Du Quoin -- Marshall Browning Hospital Auxiliary kicked off their annual 'Tree of Life' campaign on Friday, Nov. 2 with a ceremony at the hospital. Lt. Governor Sheila Simon spoke briefly about the unique challenges faced by rural health care providers.

This year's goal is $20,000 and will purchase a pulmonary function machine equipped to handle obese and wheelchair-bound patients. The machine conducts multiple breathing tests.

The Auxiliary has raised over $300,000 for 'Tree of Life' projects over the past 17 years.
