  • IDOR Offices Now Open to Public
  • Trying to contact us by Phone?

The Illinois Department of Revenue is taking proactive measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.  At this time, a limited number of taxpayer phone system agents are available.  Due to the reduced number of agents taking calls, wait times may be longer than normal. Taxpayers can still check the status of a refund, identify a PIN, or receive estimated payment information through our taxpayer assistance number (800 732-8866) using the automated menus. In addition, a limited number of staff will be monitoring and responding to emails submitted to the email addresses listed here.

  • Important Update Regarding Free Tax Preparation Services: Call Ahead

Many Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and AARP sites are suspending service due to the spread of COVID-19. Please call ahead to confirm your site’s hours and availability. It is highly encouraged that all taxpayers schedule an appointment to reduce crowding - many sites do not welcome walk-in service.

You can also view an updated VITA/AARP location search here.

Illinois taxpayers can always file their returns for free at mytax.illinois.gov. Qualified taxpayers may be eligible to participate in the IRS’ Free File program for federal returns.

If you have any income tax questions, email us at REV.TA-IIT@illinois.gov.

  • Trying to make quarter-monthly (accelerated) payments while experiencing reduced receipts?

If you are experiencing a business slowdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic and are trying to determine your minimum required quarter-monthly (accelerated) payments, see FY 2018-28, Reminder to Taxpayers of Calculation Options for Quarter-Monthly (Accelerated) Payments. If you have any questions, please email us at REV.TA-Sales@illinois.gov.

  • Trying to order Cigarette Tax Stamps?

Licensed distributors are advised that cigarette stamp orders must be made through MyTax Illinois or mail and will be shipped to the address you indicate using your existing Fed-Ex or UPS accounts. If you have any questions, please email us at REV.SpringfieldPaymentCenter@Illinois.gov.

  • Are you a distiller or craft distiller converting your production to alcohol used for hand sanitizer?

ILCC-licensed distillers or craft distillers converting their current alcohol production to alcohol used in hand sanitizer due to the COVID-19 pandemic must report this alcohol as a deduction on Schedule RL-115 to accompany their monthly Form RL-26 tax return. The deduction should be noted as "COVID-19 Alcohol" on the reporting schedule. With this notation, the distillery can claim a deduction on those gallons, effectively making those gallons tax exempt. This deduction is only allowed during a specified time period (as yet undetermined). If you have any questions, please email us at REV.ATP-MFR@illinois.gov.
