allowing taxpayers to check the status of a refund, identify a PIN, or receive estimated payment information without having to wait for an agent. Save time and avoid the phone queue by contacting the department via

Many Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and AARP sites are suspending service due to the spread of COVID-19. Please call ahead to confirm your site’s hours and availability. It is highly encouraged that all taxpayers schedule an appointment to reduce crowding - many sites do not welcome walk-in service.

file their returns for free at mytax.illinois.gov. Qualified taxpayers may be eligible to participate in the IRS’
Free File program for federal returns.

Licensed distributors are advised that cigarette stamp orders must be made through

ILCC-licensed distillers or craft distillers converting their current alcohol production to alcohol used in hand sanitizer due to the COVID-19 pandemic must report this alcohol as a deduction on Schedule RL-115 to accompany their monthly Form RL-26 tax return. The deduction should be noted as "COVID-19 Alcohol" on the reporting schedule. With this notation, the distillery can claim a deduction on those gallons, effectively making those gallons tax exempt.
