What are the penalties associated with dyed diesel fuel?

If dyed diesel fuel is found in the fuel supply tank of a motor vehicle required to be registered for highway purposes or a recreational-type watercraft on the waters of this state, there is $1,000 penalty imposed for the first offense and a $5,000 penalty imposed for each additional occurrence. If a licensed distributor/supplier knowingly sells or attempts to sell dyed diesel fuel for highway use or for use by recreational-type watercraft on the waters of this State, there is a $1,000 penalty imposed for the first offense and a $5,000 penalty is imposed for each additional occurrence. If a storage tank is not properly marked with dyed diesel information, there is a $500 penalty imposed for the first offense and a $1,000 penalty imposed for each additional occurrence. If dyed diesel is sold or transported without the notice required, there is a $500 penalty imposed for the first occurrence and a $1,000 penalty for each occurrence thereafter.
