This depends on what method you use to file your application, the number of registration applications that we are currently processing, and whether or not we have all the information we need to process your application.
If we have all the information that we need and you register online or in person, you should receive your Certificate of Registration in the mail about 2 weeks after we process your application. If you register in person you should receive the tax account number that day. If you register online you should receive an email with your tax account number in approximately 2 business days. You can create a MyTax Illinois account the day after you receive notification of your tax account number. From within MyTax Illinois, you can print your certificate from the “Letters” tab if you need your certificate sooner.
If you register by mail or fax, you should receive your certificate in about 6-8 weeks.
