Will I have a separate MyTax Illinois account for each type of return I file?

No. Activation is based on your Social Security number (SSN) if you are a sole proprietor or your Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN) for all other businesses. This means that all the tax types under your FEIN or SSN will be in one MyTax Illinois Account. If you get a new FEIN you will need a new MyTax Illinois account.

If there is not yet an active MyTax Illinois account for the business, you will be considered the “Master User”. The master user then has the ability to grant others access.
