Group Insurance/Savings Programs
Medical: Employees are eligible for medical insurance covering themselves and dependents, if elected, on their start date.
Dental: Employees are eligible for dental insurance covering themselves and dependents, if elected, on their start date.
Employees are eligible for vision insurance covering themselves and dependents, if elected, on their start date at no additional charge.
All employees, including new hires, will contribute to the retirement pension system at a 4% pre-tax rate beginning on their start date.
The State of Illinois Deferred Compensation Plan is a supplemental retirement plan for State employees. Contributions can be made on a pre-tax or after-tax (Roth) basis through salary deferrals. In addition to pension contributions, new state employees automatically contribute 3% of their pre-tax gross compensation into this supplemental retirement plan. There is a 30-day window to opt out/change the amount of contribution, tax option, and elections for this plan.
Flexible Spending: Employees may participate in this pre-tax savings programs for medical and dependent care expenses. This program allows employees to pay for select out-of-pocket medical expenses and work-related dependent care expenses using tax free dollars.
Commuter Savings Program: Employees may participate in this pre-tax savings program, which deducts parking/transit expenses directly from their paycheck.
Holidays: State employees observe at least 12 paid holidays each year.
Vacation Days: New employees may earn up to 10 paid vacation days in their first year of employment (time accrues monthly).
Personal Days: New employees may start with as many as three paid personal days (depending on start date) in a calendar year.
Sick Days: Employees earn 12 sick days per calendar year (time accrues monthly).
