Bob McCammonBob McCammon is Executive Director of the Youth Conservation Corps (YCC). Youth Conservation Corps (YCC, Inc.) is a non-profit 501(c) (3) organization that provides education, life skills and career development opportunities for young people. The mission of YCC is to provide development services to youth and young adults so that they can become productive citizens, working, participating and living in Lake County, Illinois. YCC includes the following programs: YouthBuild, AmeriCorps VISTA, AmeriCorps Clean Energy Service Corps, AmeriCorps Education and YCC Summer High School.

Prior to YCC, Bob held various appointed positions with the Lake County Forest Preserves during his 26 year career. Bob holds the degree of Bachelor of Behavioral Science from Louis National University, Evanston, Illinois and the degree of Masters of Public Administration from Roosevelt University, Chicago. He has served his community on the boards of the United Way of Lake County, Selective Service Board, and Consumer’s Cooperative Credit Union, and as a volunteer with the Boy Scouts and a local youth football league. Bob taught human resources, business and management courses as an adjunct professor at the College of Lake County for 25 years. He owned a company doing human resource consulting to public and private organizations in Lake County. He also served 10 years in the U. S. Navy and is a Vietnam Veteran.

Bob has been the Chair of the Corps Network (YCC National Affiliate) Board of Directors and served on the Fund Development and Membership Committees. He is currently on the YouthBuild USA (YCC National Affiliate) Government Relations Committee and Chairs the Development Committee. He completed the 2007-2008 YouthBuild USA Fellows Program. He received the Solidarity Award for his efforts in promoting the National YouthBuild Movement in 2007 and the 2010 YouthBuild USA Perseverance and Grace Award for continuing to run a program without major federal funding. In January 2010, he received the Freedom Award for Community Service from the People’s Voice (the largest Lake County African American News Paper ) at their Most Influential African Americans of Lake County Awards Program.

Bob was appointed by the Illinois Governor to Serve Illinois, the Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service in 2007 and is still serving.

Bob receive recognition in 2005 from the Lake County Forest Preserve District for his 30 years of service to the youth of Lake County. He served on the planning committee for the creation of the Chicago River Green Corps, a year around program of the City of Chicago that started in the spring of 1999.
