Lawrence Benito is the Deputy Director for the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights, a statewide membership organization of over 100 diverse institutional members. Currently, Lawrence manages the State and Federal organizing campaigns for the coalition and leads the legislative and governmental affairs work in Springfield. For the past 18 years, he has worked on social justice issues in various communities with grass-roots community organizations. A former Peace Corps Volunteer in Ghana, West Africa, he lives with his wife and three children on the Southside of Chicago, and a proud member of the 2009 Leadership Greater Chicago fellow class.
