Under the Federal Public Assistance Program, FEMA awards grants to assist state and local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations.
According to federal officials, the number one reason funding is denied for a project is due to a failure to comply with federal procurement regulations. To aide local governments in this process, the
have been produced to guide applicants throughout the process.
This disaster declaration also includes additional funding to conduct hazard mitigation activities for the entire state. Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) funds are available statewide for eligible sub‐applicants to apply for projects that reduce risk to people and property from natural hazards and their effects.
Deadline: The deadline to submit HMGP pre-applications to the IEMA Mitigation Branch is 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 7, 2020.
