The Serve Illinois Foundation, a 501c3 organization, operates exclusively for the benefit and purposes of the Illinois Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service.
Illinois has a long and strong tradition of volunteerism and community service. Today, the path of service is more important than ever. The Serve Illinois Commission's mission is to improve Illinois communities by promoting traditional volunteer activities and supporting national service programs. In support of this vision of service and civic engagement in Illinois, one that encourages and provides opportunities for all Illinoisans to serve, is the Serve Illinois Foundation.
The Serve Illinois Foundation was founded to ensure sustainability of the Serve Illinois Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service by providing a mechanism for the acceptance of contributions, gifts and grants ensuring the commission fulfills its role of strengthening and supporting the volunteer and service efforts in and around the state of Illinois.
Revenue generated by the foundation will support commission activities in volunteerism, national service programs and other activities under the mission of the commission. The Foundation also recognizes Illinois' volunteers and national service participants, through National Service Recognition Day, Governor's Hometown Awards and the Governor's Volunteer Service Awards.
