We have some competitions for you!

  • Dreaming about the Fair??

    We are! And we are inviting all children 5-12 years old to dream with us in our new contest "Dreaming of the Fair".

    Children are invited to submit their written response to the question "What would be your dream day at the Fair?"

    Entries will be split in two age categories, ages 5-8 and ages 9-12, with one first place winner and one runner up in each category. Entries will be judged on Substance, Clarity/Organization of Thought, and Overall Impression.

    First place winner will receive one mega pass, one admission book and one parking pass. The two runner-ups will each receive two admission passes and a one-day parking pass (valid for a date of their choice). All passes must be redeemed for the 2020 Illinois State Fair. Winning submissions will be displayed in Kids' Korner during the 2020 Illinois State Fair.

    Entries can be handwritten or typed.

    Entries must be postmarked no later than May 15, 2020, and mailed to: Illinois State Fair - Dream Writing, PO Box 19427, Springfield, IL 62794-9427 or e-mail your submission to Agr.Fairinfo@illinois.gov

    All entries must include the following information:

    • Child's full name
    • Child's Age
    • Parent/Guardian full name
    • Physical Address
    • Email Address
    • Phone Number

    By participating in this contest, the participant's legal guardian acknowledges and consents to the following: All submissions will be the property of the Illinois Department of Agriculture. The Department reserves the right to use submissions to further the interests of the Department without seeking prior approval or permission from the creator. Submissions will not be returned to their creator. The Department will not share information about contest participants with any third party. Winning submissions will be publicly displayed during the Illinois State Fair with personally identifiable information redacted as appropriate.

  • Need a new activity to do?

    We have another fun contest for ALL of you! Grab your art supplies and create your best interpretation of the Illinois State Fair's iconic Butter Cow!

    Your interpretation can be done in the medium of your choice: drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, you name it. Be creative with what you have around the house!

    All ages are welcome to enter. We will have four age categories (6 and under, 7-11, 12-17, and 18 and over). There will be one winner in each age division. Winners will all receive one 2020 Illinois State Fair admission booklet, an Illinois State Fair blue ribbon, and treat coupon. All winning pieces will also be displayed during the 2020 Illinois State Fair.

    Entries will be judged on creativity/originality, overall artistic impression, and audience appeal.

    Entries must be postmarked or received in-office no later than July 1, 2020. Entries being mailed through USPS should be addressed to "Illinois State Fairgrounds - Butter Cow, PO Box 19427, Springfield, IL, 62794-9427. Entries being shipped through UPS or Fed-Ex should be addressed to "Illinois State Fair - Butter Cow, 801 E. Sangamon Ave, Springfield, IL, 62702."

    By participating in this contest, the participant (or participant's legal guardian, as applicable) acknowledges and consents to the following: All submissions may be publicly displayed during the Illinois State Fair. If a participant would like their submission back after the Illinois State Fair, the participant MUST include that information with the submission. All submissions that do not include a note that the creator would like the submission back will become the property of the Department immediately upon arrival at the Department. The Department reserves the right to use submissions to further the interests of the Department without seeking prior approval or permission from the creator. Submissions will not be returned to their creator prior to the conclusion of the Illinois State Fair. The Department will not share information about contest participants with any third party.
