Building a Better Illinois
The professional architects, engineers, project managers, construction experts, and staff of the Capital Development Board oversee the design and construction of state-funded facilities. The CDB manages projects that touch the lives of almost every Illinois citizen with work on colleges and universities, public safety centers, museums and historic sites, state parks, health centers, office buildings, and correctional centers.

Renew, Renovate and Restore
When one of the State of Illinois’ 8,771 properties requires repair or renovation, the Capital Development Board manages the project. Many projects involve modernizing facilities to meet accessibility standards and protecting the lives and safety of Illinois residents by removing such environmental hazards as asbestos and lead. Projects can range from the replacement of a failing heating system to the restoration of internationally significant historic structures.
Building a Better Illinois
The Capital Development Board (CDB) evaluated and streamlined the selection process for Architect/ Engineer Services (A/E) to receive contracts.
School Construction
The Capital Development Board in partnership with the Illinois State Board of Education has provided over $3.4 billion in state grants for school construction and renovation through the School Construction Program. The program has benefited over 500 elementary and secondary school districts in every part of the state.
