Camping at Pere Marquette

For visitors who prefer a rustic experience, Pere Marquette offers a wide range of camping opportunities:

  • The Class A campground has 80 sites, two of which are handicap accessible. Sites have electrical hookups only, with a sanitary dump station, drinking water, and a shower building available on the grounds. Sites 2-30 are available for reservation from May through October. The nearby Class B tent camping area also has access to the shower building.

  • Within the Class A campground, the park offers two Rent-A-Camp cabins.

  • Popular among scout groups is the Youth Tent Camp Area, also known as Duncan Hill. This separate campground offers a picnic shelter and tables, pit-type toilets and drinking water.

  • For large organized groups, Pere Marquette operates three Organized Group Camps. Camp Potawatomi accommodates 60 campers; Camp Piasa and Camp Ouatoga each accommodate 120. All three camps feature fully-equipped kitchens and dining rooms, lighted sleeping cabins with cots and mattresses, and restroom facilities with warm showers and flush toilets. Camps Piasa and Ouatoga also feature swimming pools, open seasonally.

Group Camp Lottery Announcement

We are preparing for the 2021 camping season at Pere Marquette State Park. The accompanying documents are the Upper Group Camp Brouchure and Upper Group Camp Lottery Application.

You may complete the application and remit via United States Postal Service. Additionally you may send us an electronic copy, but please understand that lottery application must have a signature on it, AND RECEIVED in the park office prior to January 11th, 2021.

The first lottery will be conducted on January 11th, 2021. The first lottery will consist of the groups who wish for overnight stays of 6 or more nights. The remaining over night stays of any length will be considered immediately following and daily thereafter until the camps are fully booked.

An update and/or facts which I would like to share:

  • We continue to loose structures in the upper group camps. Enclosed are maps of existing cabin closures. There is a potential that additional units may be closed prior to your stay. Please contact the park office for updated of administrative closed buildings.
  • Camp Piasa has some ADA amenities.
  • Dayuse Pool lottery will begin on April 1st (Thursday)
  • Deposits made with credit cards are encouraged. Checks written for deposits, when refunded take approximately six to eight weeks.
  • The lottery is entirely a random process. Applications are numbered one thru the number of the ending application and a drawing is conducted for each camp. Stays with 6 nights or more are in the first lottery.

It would be remised if I did not discuss Covid challenges. As each of us are now aware, the Covid Pandemic is a very fluid and ever changing challenge. The agency is planning on the Group Camps to be in full use for the 2021 season. Should Covid Pandemic Protocals be directed, which will negate your ability stay, we will fully refund your deposite. Your overnight stay is calculated based on your occupancy. They are not calculated on amenities or wether or not the pools are able to be opened.

We hope that you have enjoyed your groups experiences at Pere Marquette State Park and we look forward to seeing you and your group during the during the 2021 camping season.
