Location: Carroll County, 1 mile south of the town of Chadwick on School Rd. 4096 School Road, Chadwick, IL 61014
Description: Total Acres 150, Huntable acres approx. 148 acres
This area is located in the upper reaches of the Little Rock Creek watershed and situated in amongst some of the most productive cropland in Carroll County. Topography is rolling to gently rolling. The balance of the acreage is devoted to various elements of wildlife habitat including 33 acres of native grasses & forbs, 6 acres of grasses and legumes, 6 acres of hardwood tree & shrub plantings and 4.2 acres of wildlife food plots. Two small streams meander thru the site and are flanked by various kinds of woody vegetation. One small wetland has been constructed and there's one existing hardwood timber on the south end of the site that is approximately 22 acres in size. This SHA was purchased and is managed cooperatively between the Carroll County chapter of Pheasants Forever, the Carroll County Soil & Water Conservation District and the Il. Dept of Natural Resources. This site is owned and managed by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. Management activities on this site may occur throughout the year, including the hunting seasons.

All regulations found in the Illinois Wildlife Code, Federal regulations and Administrative Orders will apply unless area regulations are more restrictive.
Area Regulations:
- All hunting must be done with a shotgun or bow and arrow.
- Hunters pursuing rabbit, cock pheasant, quail and Hungarian partridge must wear a cap and upper garment of solid blaze orange of at least 400 square inches.
- Upland hunters must complete and return and harvest survey report to the Dept. of Natural Resources by February 15th. Failure to submit the report will result in the loss of hunting privileges on pheasant habitat areas next year.
- Free permits for rabbit, cock pheasant, quail and hungarian partridge must be applied for and are issued thru a lottery drawing at the main DNR office in Springfield. Further information can be found in the Illinois Hunting Digest or by contacting (217) 782-6384. One permit will be issued for each day of the hunt, each permit holder may be accompanied by 3 partners.
- Archery hunters must register with name and date prior to hunting and sign out and record their harvest upon completion of the hunt. Registration will be at the site parking lot. No more than 2 hunters can hunt concurrently at Little Rock Creek Habitat Area. It shall be unlawful to construct or to use any tree stand that utilizes nails, screws, wire or any device which pierces or cuts the bark of the tree on which it is installed. Only one tree stand allowed per deer permit holder. It may be left unattended from Sept 15 - January 31 if legibly marked with the owner's name, address, and telephone number. Archery season closes at the end of shooting hours on the day preceding the opening of the upland hunting season for the north zone and will re-open at legal shooting hours the day after the close of the north zone upland season
- One site trapping permit will issued annually for the Little Rock Creek Habitat Area. This permit will be issued thru a lottery drawing held at Morrison Rockwood State Park. No motorized access is permitted on site. Also, only Egg traps, D-P ( Dog Proof) Traps, box traps, cage traps, and traps of similar design may be used for land sets; only body-gripping traps with a jaw spread of 5 inches or less, foothold traps with a jaw spread of 4.5 inches or less and square body-gripping traps with a 10 inch jaw spread may be used for water sets, snares may be used for water sets. All fur(s) harvested belong to the permit holder for that trapping year. The trapper must wear at least 400 inches of solid blaze orange while accessing the site.
Active habitat management will be occurring throughout
the year on the site.
