Registering Multiple Locations for the Same Employer

If you haven't already, you should review the Definition of a Business in the MEDI System topic to understand how a business is defined in MEDI.

Your employer may have more than one physical location. The MEDI System does allow additional locations to register with certain restrictions.

A new location for a provider that is using the same provider identification number as another location that is already registered, must register as an Other Business and be authorized by the provider's administrator at the first location. Refer to the Duplicate Provider Registration topic for more information.

A new location for a payee will normally have a different payee number, so once a payee number is registered, it cannot be re-registered as a new business. Refer to the Duplicate Payee Registration topic for more information.

A new location for an Other Government Payor will normally have a different payor identifier, so once a payor ID number is registered, it cannot be re-registered as a new business. Refer to the Duplicate Other Government Payor Registration for more information.

A new location for an Other Business that is using the same tax identification number as another location that is already registered can register as a separate location. Refer to the Duplicate Other Business Registration for more information.
