2020 Jr. Horse Show (English & Western)
Presented by the Illinois Department of Agriculture (IDOA)

 

The IDOA will be hosting a Horse Show on the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds in Du Quoin on the following dates:

Session 1 English (August 29- 30)

Session 2 Western (September 5-6)

 

Below is a listing of the show dates and associated entry fee and stall rental:

Session 1 – 8/29 – 8/30   English Horse Show Entry Fee $10; Stall Rental $10

Session 2 - 9/5 - 9/6    Western Horse Show Entry Fee $10; Stall Rental $10

Entry Forms must be postmarked, along with applicable payment, by Monday, August 10th for both Session 1 & 2.

 

Both Credit Cards (VISA, MasterCard, Discovery) & Checks will be accepted. Please make checks out to: Illinois Department of Agriculture

 

  1. ALL exhibitors, family members and general public must abide by the six (6) foot social distancing rule and will also be required to wear a protective mask at all times while on the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds. These rules will be enforced to ensure everyone remains safe. 
      
  2.  Please note that overnight camping on the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds is allowed at a rate of $25/night.  However, you must adhere to the camping rules and policies located on the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds website    (www2.illinois.gov/sites/dsf).
      
  3.  Eligibility requirements to exhibit at this show:  Ages 8 - 21 years old.  Competition is open to anyone who, at a minimum, will be eight (8) years old and, at a maximum, will be twenty-one (21) years old on August 10th, 2020. Individuals twenty-two (22) and older on August 10th, 2020 will NOT be eligible   to participate.

  4.  Competition is open to Illinois residents exclusively.
      
  5.  Participants will enter at Gate 3 off of Highway 51.
      
  6.  Stalls are located immediately next to the Horse Arena and are equipped with either wash stalls or spigots.  Stalls are also located within a short distance to camping and shower facilities.
      
  7.  ALL animals must be pre-entered by post marked deadlines listed above to be eligible for competition. 
      
  8.  Premiums will be paid under a "Jackpot" format based on total entry fees   received for each show and will be paid up to 6th Place.
      
  9.  Ribbons will be awarded up to 6th Place.
      
  10.  What will the check-in process entail? Refer to the Fair Book for specific departmental details.  Final check-in process/guidelines will be announced when all entries have been received.

NOTES:

It is the IDOA's responsibility to conduct this event in adherence with any, and all, IDPH COVID-19 restrictions in place at the time this show is conducted, including allowable event gathering size, PPE requirements, social distancing rules, etc.   

 

Please note that this planned competition is "fluid" in nature, and therefore, the IDOA has the right to make changes/adjustments for both the well-being of our competitors and their animals. 

 

Safety has been, and always be, the number one concern and priority of the Department, and will never be compromised.
