The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is the partner/coordinator of the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) "On Target For Life". This nationally acclaimed youth archery program implements a curriculum-based archery education program into the public/private school system through the physical education department. The NASP has been successfully introduced in 40+ states. Illinois was one of the first 10 states registered in the program.
The IDNR is hosting a statewide tournament for schools enrolled in the NASP. This annual tournament is in the spring of each year. Please contact Joe Robinson at joe.robinson@illinois.gov or 217-785-8060 for information concerning the tournament.
The World Shooting and Recreational Complex has the longest trap line in the world with 120 trap fields outfitted with a voice activated release system extending over 3.5 miles. Twenty-four are combination trap/skeet fields with 16 of those fields equipped with lights for shooting after dark. The WSRC is the home grounds for the Amateur Trapshooting Association’s Grand American Trapshooting Championships.
