The Commission lost a great practitioner and friend with the passing of Ellis Sostrin.
Ellis practiced at the Illinois Workers' Compensation Commission for more than 49 years. When he began his practice at the Commission, it was with his Father, Nathan and his Uncle Jack. His daughter Rachel later joined him in the firm.
Mr. Sostrin was held in the highest esteem by his peers, both for his legal acumen and his collegiality. He enhanced our practice by making humor an integral part of his dealings with others. He showed his opponents respect while poking fun at his own foibles, and sometimes theirs.
It is for these reasons that Ellis Sostrin was always held in the highest regard at the IWCC. He will be missed. We extend our sincere condolences to Ellis' family.
